- The Hals-family's coat of arms (v?ben) is "en Krone" (a crown). Helmet: 2 vesselhorns with a crown in between like the emblem in the shield. Peder Hals' wife Maren Clausdatter may possibly be a member of the Wiltfang-family. According to Dr. Zahrtmann the Hals were a "Nobility- and Sk?ne Knighthood-family" (Adelsmand- en sk?nsk Riddersl?gt); whose family-farm Halseg?rd was later renamed Gadeg?rd (volume 1, page 94).

The following has been extracted from a translation of the article "Landet Borringholm: Bornholmsk-sk?nske sl?gtskredse", part 2, by Sigvard Mahler Dam, published in SAXO, 1986:
On January 7, 1407 Johannes Lawesen Uf and his assistant commander, Paul Degn, signed as witnesses on the oldest Bornholm deed-document to have survived time's gnawing teeth. The deed concerns the widow of large landowner Peter Hals, one Marine Clawesdatter (Wiltfang?), together with her son "?dbj?rn Petersen kaldet Hals", transferring to her daughter Katharina a farm and mill in ?stermarie parish as her wedding dowry to Orm Herlichsen. The deceased Peter Hals must have left a huge inheritance, since the daughter's share consisted of both a farm and a mill.
The above information on the 1407 deed can also be found in the article "V?bner, Adel og frim?nd" by J.A. J?rgensen (R?nne, 1905, page 6) wherein he relates that "Cathrine Peder Halsdaatter" was engaged to "Ormer Herlugsen". S. Mahler Dam states that this article is hopelessly out of date.
